Flickship is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
- Account and profile data, including your email address, name, date of birth, profile photo, bio, gender, and matching preferences. Some matching preferences may reveal sensitive personal information.
- Letterboxd data that you choose to connect, including your public username and public watch history, ratings, likes, and related film links. We do not ask for or store your Letterboxd password.
- Location data. This includes the city and country shown on your profile and, when you grant location permission, latitude and longitude precise enough to support nearby matching.
- User content you create in Flickship, including messages, reports, blocks, and profile edits.
- Identifiers and device data, including a device identifier, push notification token, app version, OS version, device model, timezone, locale, and IP address.
- Usage data about how you interact with the app, such as likes, passes, matches, unread counts, and related in-app activity.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, verify your email address, and keep you signed in
- To match you with other users based on film taste, profile information, preferences, and location
- To enable messaging, report and block flows, and other safety features between matched users
- To send push notifications about matches, messages, and important account activity
- To personalise the experience you see in the app, including discovery and match suggestions
- To prevent abuse, investigate complaints, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations
Tracking and advertising
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use data collected from Flickship to track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising purposes.
Data sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to operate Flickship, such as cloud hosting, media storage, email delivery, and Apple Push Notification service. We may also disclose information when necessary to investigate abuse, respond to legal requests, or protect users and Flickship.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from app settings. Account data is removed from active systems promptly, and residual copies in backups or operational logs may persist for a limited period, generally no longer than 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required for security, fraud prevention, or legal reasons.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise these rights, email hello@flickship.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Security
We use HTTPS and WSS with TLS encryption for data in transit and encrypted storage at rest where supported by our infrastructure. No transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Children
Flickship is not directed at anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete it promptly.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time and will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
